Truly there is only one religion and it is the religion of Jesus the Christ (James 1:27). One foundation of unity among religious people who follow Christ is that there is only one faith (Ephesians 4:5). A rejection of this idea will be made by those who seek to promote some man-made institution. Is there then in this country an attitude against religion. If one means by religion how men worship, most of government officials and those in the media would be indifferent. If religion has reference to Jesus Christ the Son of God, there is a shift in attitude. I still find it amazing that people who do not believe in God are afraid when people pray to a God that does not exist. Their fear is a declaration that there is a God and they do not want people to believe.
Why be afraid of people believing in God? Even some who claim to follow Christ talk about Christians being judgmental and driving people away from the Savior. They say, “the world is turned off by organized religion”. Cute words but all that means is people choose to not obey God and there is always some one out there who will tell them they are alright. Jesus dealt with a woman caught in adultery and told her to go and sin no more (John 8:11). Can you believe Jesus was so judgmental? What about the man who came to Jesus for answers and was told by Jesus to sell his possessions and come follow Jesus (Matthew19:21)?
