The answer lies in who controls the media. Whatever the reason is not a good thing to condemn the Moslem faith. I would caution us all to think through what we are hearing and what we read and see via the media in our country. Each time there is a killing or disturbance by Moslems, it is said to be radicals and not indicative of the Moslem faith. Here is what you need to listen to. How many times have you heard the media of whatever kind it is, speak about Mohammed himself? It does not occur. If they spoke about Mohammed they would be bound to tell of his life. They do not wish such to be public knowledge so then the ones who do the killing are radicals.
What if one does the same with Jesus? When they raise the subject, it is about some horrible thing done by “Christians” in some other part of the world. Why not go back to the leader and see what was taught? Jesus looking back to the influence of the Old Law of Moses said, you have heard to love your neighbor and hate your enemy (Matthew 5:43). Jesus then says, “but I say unto you. Love your enemies and bless them that curse you.” If one is a radical follower of Jesus the Christ what would these commands do? Jesus taught this kind of living was in order for one to be a child of God (Matthew 5:45). My relationship with God is based on how I treat my enemies? How would radical followers of Jesus use that teaching?
Jesus asked, why do you call me Lord and do not the things which I say (Luke 6:46)? Peter says about the followers of Jesus that they are to follow His steps (I Peter 2:21). In the time of His earthly ministry when did Jesus ever kill anyone with a sword? When did He ever practice deception to gain money or power? Peter affirms that Jesus did not sin nor was guile found in His mouth (verse 22). Can the same be said of Mohammed? The Media wants to focus in on some broad view of religion and ignore the one who started the religion. Radical or otherwise, follow Jesus and the world will be a safer place for all to live in.
