Why don’t people study their Bibles and accept the truth?

There is really no simple answer.  At the heart of the problem is in some cases people are governed by emotions.  They go to a stadium and their favorite team wins the game.  They are “happy” for the victory.  Such an emotion cannot be translated to mean they are happy in life.  Most of the ball games which I have attended, I manage to have purchased a ticket next to some drunk on the same aisle or pretty close to me.  I would say based on their words and actions, they sure appear to be“happy”.  How foolish to believe such individuals have happiness in their life.  Individuals can summon up in their minds some point when they felt happy because they thought they were right with God.

In my personal studies with individuals I have heard people claim they were saved at their stove, in a mall or out in a field somewhere.  At some given moment in time, they felt an emotional high and translate that into them being saved.  When faced with the truth of the Bible they must have an explanation that allows them to believe that.  Preachers then of the religious world will tell them, that Paul was saved on the road to Damascus.  The other day I read briefly some child’s book about stories in the Bible.  One such story was about Paul on the road to Damascus.  The little child’s book read that when Paul went to Damascus he was saved meaning salvation on the road to Damascus, because he obeyed God by going.

Still others know what the truth is saying but they cannot afford to teach what the truth is saying.  On one hand they would lose their jobs and financial security.  In another way they would lose their popularity and power.  Some men put more emphasis on power than on principles.  We might as easy ask why do some politicians lie or try to spin the truth?  To tell the truth would mean guilt and lost of power.  When it comes to the souls of men, it is so important to not allow anything to keep us from obeying God.  Study daily God’s Word and apply it daily.  Truth operates in such a heart.
