What is the connection between the rapture and Genesis 12:3?

The Rapture, no matter which view one takes of it, will have a final major war occurring in the land of Israel. The battle is called the battle of Armageddon (Rev. 16:16). According to the Rapture theory, nations will come together to defeat and wipe out forever, the nation of Israel. The journey is a short step then for men to think if we bless Israel then we will be on the winning side of this great war out there in the future. From a strictly physical view, it would be hard to imagine all nations finding a place to fight in so little a space that is occupied by Israel. Also consider that one angel in one night killed 185,000 Assyrians. Please explain to me what weapon would ever be able to kill or stand against an angel?

Another passage greatly abused is found in Isaiah 54:17. The passage there states that no weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper. Those who believe in the Rapture use this passage to convey the idea that Israel will never be destroyed. One “small problem” arises from this. What did Jesus teach? Jesus speaking about Jerusalem said, not one stone will be left upon another (Matt. 24:2). Does that sound to you like no weapon will prosper against you? The Romans laid siege to Jerusalem in A.D. 70. In late May the outer walls of Jerusalem were breached. In late August the temple was burned. Street fighting continued until around August the 30th when the whole city was conquered.

These events occurred just as Jesus said they would. How do we reconcile then the passage in Isaiah 54? The next chapter opens up by saying in verse 1, buy without money and without price. No such arrangement could occur on the physical plane. This is a spiritual arrangement of how things would be when the kingdom of God was ushered in. Jesus made the promise that even the “…gates of hell would not prevail against it” (Matt. 16:18). Our weapons are not carnal, that is of this world (2 Cor. 10:4). We wield a spiritual sword that is the Word of God (Eph. 6:17). The Rapture is keyed to the physical in every aspect. It is false.
